Sometimes, while asleep, we feel some painful muscle contractions in our legs that wake us up in the middle of the night. It’s a distressing condition, and we feel disturbed. If you have yet to experience leg cramps during sleep, then this may sound odd to you. However, this is just normal. In fact, a number of people suffer leg cramps almost every night. And it frequently occurs due to infrequent strain, when muscles are being used whilst in a resting position
How does this happen?
It’s an obvious truth that we, while asleep, are unaware of our changing positions. When we turn to an uncomfortable position for the calf muscles, there will be possible tension and shortening of the muscle, which makes our legs susceptible to cramps. This stimulates the tendon receptors and causes the calf muscles to contract. In addition, there will be an obstructed blood flow, nerve compression and damaged muscles.

Effects of Interrupted Sleep | Uratex Blog
Sleeping is everyone’s personal heaven. This is the time when we distress ourselves and have a good rest. But due to our busy schedules, we experience the tragedy that is interrupted sleep. Have you tried waking up every 30 minutes as you sleep? Well, I have, and believe me, it feels… terrible. This got me wondering about the negative effects of interrupted sleep.
It is during sleep when our brain stores all the information we acquire during the day. It is also the stretch of time when our body rests and recuperates from all the damages it has incurred. Hormones and tissues are repaired as we sleep. So what happens if all these are disrupted?

How to Exterminate Bed Bugs | Uratex Blog
“Don’t let the bed bugs bite.” It’s not just a metaphorical cliché. Really, your invaluable bed mattress might be actually tainted with these horrible, parasitic insects. You won’t usually see them because they are very small. They are not choosy; whether it be a five-star hotel, one-star inn, or your house’s seat cushions, headboards, mattress or lamps, they can just lay whitish eggs everywhere as they feed on your blood. They are great hitchhikers because although they don’t have wings, they use their six legs to move from your luggage, furniture, clothes, etc. Their bites are not painful but are extremely itchy, especially when you start scratching them.
The following lists some suggestions on how you can banish bed bugs and prevent their infestation from troubling your home sweet home.
1. Inspect thoroughly first.

World Records in Sleeping | Uratex Blog
Sleeping is one of the most important activities we need to do in order to function well. For some people, sleeping is not only a form of relaxation, for it is also something that can be pushed to the limit. Different feats have been attempted in this area. Here are some of the world records on sleeping.
Longest Sleeping Time
There is no official record involving the world’s longest continuous, uninterrupted sleep. This is because many factors have to be considered before setting such a sleeping record. Exceptions must be made for people who are in a coma or those who are suffering from Kleine-Levin Syndrome—a rare neurological illness that can put a person to sleep for one to three weeks.
Snoring Mouthpiece: Is It Safe/Effective? | Uratex Blog
Snoring is a form of dilemma that can bother those who don’t even experience it. According to the American Academy of Otalaryngology, 25% among 45% of normal adults snore at night. Babies are no excuse, for a great percentage of them also snore. Relaxed muscles in our respiratory tract, namely our mouth, tongue, and throat, are the ones responsible for this involuntary action. Blocked air in our respiratory tract tends to vibrate. These vibrations result in snoring. Louder snoring can be attributed to alcohol, excessive fat, medicinal intakes, etc. Behind the irritating effect of snoring lies a more serious problem on our health—snoring can cause death. This is why numerous ways have been introduced to lessen, or even fully eliminate, snoring.

What is Sleep Talking? | Uratex Blog
Somniloquy, commonly known as Sleep Talking, falls on a behavioural disorder called Parasomnia. Along with sleep talking, other disorders associated with Parasomnia include sleep walking, sleep eating, night terrors, etc. These involuntary habits are common amongst ordinary people. In fact, everyone is said to have manifested such behaviour in the past. A 2004 survey showed that kids are more prone to talk in their sleep because of their immature state of mind. Such things are just some of the causes of Interrupted Sleep. It’s a fascinating fact that people who sleep talk have zero idea on what they say during the time being.
Scientists have different explanations on when sleep talking occurs. Some say that it takes place during the REM (rapid eye movement) sleep because this is when we have a full grasp of our dreams. In this stage, dreams are spoken by the person. However, according to Dr. William Kohler, there is no clear evidence that a person’s exact dream is related to what they end up saying. So if you feel your partner or friend is keeping a secret from you, don’t rely on this Parasomnia to provide facts that would confirm any suspicion you might have.
